From field to jar
Five steps from the refuge to your shelf
Our hive at first lightDawn on the refuge
Our hives sit among the oaks on the edge of a wildlife refuge in Springfield. When the sun clears the trees, the first foragers head out over the meadow and the refuge beyond.

The Red HiveTwo hives, two queens
It started with the Red Hive and the Yellow Hive, each with its own queen and its own honey. By the 2026 Honey Harvest the yard had grown to six.

Inspection dayFrame by frame
We open one box at a time and lift each frame by hand. We only take what the colony can spare, and we never blend one hive's honey with another's.
Four harvests, four colorsRaw, never heated
No filtering and no heating, so natural traces of propolis, pollen and beeswax stay in the jar. The color tells you which nectar flow it came from.

Into the apothecary
What the hives give us becomes balm, cream and body butter, made by hand in Springfield in small batches.
Meet your queen
Every jar knows its hive
Turn a jar of Raw Honey over and you'll find a colored sticker. It tells you whose colony made it.

The West Coast Queen
Italian, docile, and the top propolis gatherer of all our hives.
Meet the queen →
The Carniolan from Kona
Our honey producer. We pulled over 50 lbs and the bees refilled it right away.

The nectar flow
What's blooming is what's in the jar
Our bees forage through the seasons, and every harvest tastes of what they found. Tap through the year.

Cherry blossom
Early springCherry trees are among the first big blooms of the year. Batches from this flow tend to run darker, with cherry notes.
Timing shifts year to year. Your jar's color is the best guide.

Our Springfield sanctuary
A tiny apiary with a big dream
It started with one package of bees, the colony we now call the Red Hive. Today it's a small sanctuary beside a wildlife refuge, and we still harvest one box at a time.
“Each order is small batch. Thank you for your patience as we craft your products with care.”
